On October 12, XG brought their ‘The First Howl’ tour to the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX. XG is a seven member Japanese girl group based in South Korea. The group consists of Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Juria, Cocona, Maya, and Harvey. The group made their debut on March 18, 2022. This tour is a huge milestone for XG as this is their first ever world tour. Their fandom, ALPHAZ, have been eagerly waiting for this moment.
The girls did not disappoint, opening the show with a stellar performance of “Shooting Star.” They followed up with a series of high-energy songs that kept the momentum going strong. ALPHAZ matched their enthusiasm, singing along passionately and keeping the hype alive. Harvey described the audience’s excitement as “next level.” Each member had a chance to showcase their talents with solo covers of artists like Taylor Swift, Destiny’s Child, and Teyana Taylor. It was impossible not to sing along.
I admired how interactive the show was. During the karaoke segment, Maya asked the audience which songs they wanted to hear. After listening to ALPHAZ’s requests, XG performed parts of “New Dance,” “Woke Up,” and “Mascara” in an a cappella style, with fans singing along. Additionally, there was a dance spotlight where a lucky fan got the chance to show off their moves, earning applause from the girls. It was heartwarming to see the connection XG has with ALPHAZ.
Throughout the show, clips of XG from their trainee days were shown, giving the audience a glimpse of their early journey. It was fulfilling to see how far the girls have come. In the videos, each member shared their aspirations as artists and the hardships they overcame to achieve their dreams. Reflecting on these moments during their first world tour was a definite tearjerker. The amount of time and hard work they put in to reach this point is incredible. It wasn’t an easy feat, but XG persevered.
