Gearing up for a night they won’t soon forget, the Massachusetts post-hardcore scene showed up with a purpose when Underoath took the stage at The Worcester Palladium to celebrate 20 years of They’re Only Chasing Safety on September 27,2024.
Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Underoath has left a lasting mark on the post-hardcore rock scene from the early 2000s. Now, twenty years later, they’re touring the United States in celebration of the album that put them on everyone’s radar. Playing the album front to back, the band ensures these songs leave just as much of a lasting impression now as they did two decades ago. You could feel the nostalgia in the room with crowd favorites like, “A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White” and “It’s Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door,” mixed in with other heavy hitters from the iconic album.
The night was special for more than just the celebration of an influential album; it was also the bassist Grant’s birthday. The band made sure to acknowledge his day with a crowd sing-along of “Happy Birthday.” It was a small moment in a large night that will leave a lasting impression for all in attendance. The band continued with a six song encore including fan favorites from their other iconic releases. Closing out the evening with “Writing on the Walls,” the band proved once again why they have been such an influential piece in the ever growing genre.
