Snail Mail With Narrowhead and On Being an Angel at Paper Tiger
On December 29, fans were not prepared for one hell of a performance from On Being an Angel, Narrowhead, and Snail Mail at the Paper Tiger! From a mosh pit forming to celebrating Gypsy Rose’s release from prison, this show was one that many will look back on as a closing memory for 2023.
Lights of red cascaded as On Being an Angel stepped on stage as the first opener for the night. Combining angsty guitar riffs with elements of bubble gum pop, their grunge ambience was only enhanced within the dark walls of The Paper Tiger. Based in Austin, the band expressed their love of playing in San Antonio and even met with fans to take pictures at the merch table after their setlist had ended!
Up next, was Narrowhead, who brought a completely different energy for the night. As a metal band, they carried the same 90’s nostalgia that On Being an Angel provided, but amped up. During their performance, a mosh pit was formed in the middle of the audience and people were even crowd surfing along!
To say that the crowd was ready for Snail Mail was an understatement. She took the time to engage with the crowd telling everyone, “I need you to get tipsy for Gypsy” to celebrate Gypsy Rose’s release from prison and later opened gifts from fans. Not only did she play classics like Pristine, she also surprised everyone by covering Oasis’s Wonderwall after a fan requested it saying that she refuses to back down from a challenge.
Snail Mail’s Texas excursion was definitely a core memory that many will look back on as one of their final highlights of 2023.
