The crowd surges towards the stage, pressing tightly against each other, and start to cheer loudly for the North Star Boys to take the stage. Every single fan (lovingly called “Stars”) in the audience had uncontainable excitement for them. The boys burst out onto the stage and energized the venue instantly.
For the last two months, North Star Boys have been traveling across the United States to reach fans around the nation. As their third tour in three years, these men are seasoned touring artists and their performances were at their peak all night. Los Angeles was a particularly special venue, since the group is based in the city. The fans have been dedicated to them since their inception and could not have been more happier seeing them on stage.
At the start of the setlist, each member makes their own distinct entrance. Each member was able to soak in the cheering for their personal fans and then the stage filled completely when all members stood together and rallied up the crowd even more. From there, separate units performed their own songs, varying from rap-heavy hip-hop, to ballads dedicated to the fanbase. In between songs, members would mention how happy they were to be performing in L.A. and back with their Stars. Oliver explained the meaning behind the song “Cydia” and how much love he feels from the fans every time he sings it.
Much of the performance was bombastic and energetic. However, there were softer moments that made the show much more dynamic. NSB was able to keep the energy under their control, taking the audience through a journey of music. There was never a blank space in between the songs; every performance, whether it was a solo member or a unit, followed one after another seamlessly. Anyone could tell that the audience was captured by the members, and the members were in awe of their fans.
As far as visuals go, the entire show kept a very colorful tone. Both in lighting, song choice, and outfits from the boys. Sebastian would change from a small black tank top to a white and blue jersey, depending on the mood of the song he was performing. Much of the show’s lighting was elevated with bubble blasters, or the phone flashlights from fans. Any third party onlooker would understand that NSB involved their audience with their performances. Several songs involved certain members from the audience. Kane brought up one of the girls to dance with him during a ballad, which was a crowd favorite. The whole show was a spectacle to see, and everything flowed beautifully together.
The North Star Boys ended the setlist with the whole group on stage. Every one of them was able to interact with at least five fans in their midst. Reggie promised his Stars that the after party on the bus would be the highlight of his night. He invited the audience to share a round of shots with him in order to set the mood. As each member said their goodbyes, every word had the same message: “We love you, Stars. Let’s keep going together.”
