Following the announcement of her new album BUZZ, 88 Rising’s Jakarta-born, LA based artist, NIKI, reveals new single, “Blue Moon.”
The choice of “Blue Moon” as a title suggests a connection to astrology, where a Blue Moon represents a rare cosmic event associated with clarity and reflection. The song’s narrative is about a significant relationship that ended unexpectedly despite its depth reflecting a universal theme of encountering profound love but struggling due to timing issues. NIKI’s personal touch in the songwriting, especially penned during her Nicole World Tour, adds a layer of authenticity and raw emotion to her lyrics.
“I wrote Blue Moon lamenting the slow, then sudden demise of a truly significant relationship. It’s about the deepest and rarest loves we might stumble upon (once in the bluest of moons, if we’re lucky), and then realizing we’d stumbled upon it too early for it to stand a chance. It’s that classic trope of right person, wrong time.” NIKI explains.
Collaborating closely with Ethan Gruska, and bringing in the expertise of Rob Moose for the string arrangement, indicates a thoughtful approach to crafting a sound that compliments the song’s heartfelt message. “Blue Moon” will offer listeners a poignant exploration of love’s intricacies and emotional aftermath of its loss.
With her upcoming album BUZZ set to release on August 9, the single sets a promising tone for what fans can expect in terms of musical depth and personal storytelling from NIKI.
