On February 16, 2024, Boston’s iconic venue, Roadrunner, experienced an explosive evening of pop-punk and hardcore. On this night, Neck Deep took the stage supported by Higher Power, Bearings, and Drain. Higher Power kicked off the night, delivering the crowd a set of punk and hardcore influences that left everyone anticipating what was left to come.
Captivating the audience with their infectious melodies and heartfelt lyrics, Bearings was next to perform. Their dynamic performance resonated deeply with the crowd, eliciting passionate sing-alongs and an overall electric vibe. They set the standard high for the rest of the night.
If anyone in the audience hadn’t heard of Drain before, they were in for a treat. Within the first 30 seconds, Sammy, the lead vocalist, was front flipping into the crowd and tossing his mic to whoever “knew the lyrics of this song.” It suddenly went from a night of innocent pop-punk fun to a true hardcore show, which Boston is no stranger to. Their high energy and crowd engagement along with all the stage dives and crowd surfing made for one fiery performance from the Santa Cruz natives.
As the lights dimmed and the first chords rang out, Neck Deep wasted no time launching into their set with an infectious energy that had the crowd instantly hooked. From fan favorites to new tracks, their extensive 20 song set was a rollercoaster of emotions. Playing in a sold-out venue to 3,500 people, this was the largest show of the tour so far according to the band. Frontman Ben Barlow’s charismatic stage presence and heartfelt interactions with the audience created an intimate connection that elevated the concert to new heights.
Neck Deep’s Live in America tour was a pop-punk dream come true. From the opening chords to the final bow, each band delivered a performance to remember. If you have the chance to catch any of these bands live, don’t hesitate, it’ll be an experience you won’t soon forget.
