18-year-old superstar d4vd reveals his first release of 2024, his two-pack single titled ‘Withering’ which features two new tracks ‘Leave Her’ and ‘2016’. ‘Leave Her’ is an upbeat, yearning reflection on relationships. d4vd leans further into his grunge-rock musicality in his other single ‘2016’. This track shows the feeling of growing up, but wanting the simpler times as he talks about who he was eight years ago, singing over an electric guitar loop: “I’m not the same kid I was in 2016”.
D4vd kicks off his new era following a year that brought him soaring to new heights. His defining single ‘Romantic Homicide’ resonated with millions worldwide on the release date last July and had 1 billion streams across platforms peaking at #33 on the Billboard Hot 100 It is a part of d4vds ‘Petals To Thorns’ EP which made it to #1 on Billboard Heatseakers albums. D4vd also performed the song on Jimmy Kimmy live! On his late-night television debut. He also joined SZA on her SOS Tour and has performed at festivals including ACL, Tyler The Creator Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, and more. D4vd has since released two successful EP’s ‘Petals to Thorns’ and ‘The Lost Petals’, sold two headlining tours, and performed during the Valentino Men’s SS24 Fashion Week show in Milan. His music was recognized as part of Billboard’s 21 under 21 and Variety’s Young Hollywood Impact Report lists and he’s received a Streamy Award Nomination for ‘Here With Me’ in the Rolling Stone Sound of the Year category.
D4vd, born David Burke, appeared as a visionary artist a year after he began writing and recording tracks alone in his sister’s closet in Houston, Texas. D4vd developed his taste in rap and indie music from the internet and fan-made Fortnite videos on YouTube, which he also started creating as a homeschooled teenager. As an avid player, d4vid has over 50,000 subscribers on his gaming channel but noticed the songs in his gaming montages were getting copyrighted so his mother suggested that he write original music as a solution. This motivated him to record his own tracks. He released singles touching from indie-alternative, pop, and R&B. The 18-year-old had a break-out hit in the summer of 2022 with the now RIAA Muti-Platinum certified indie-rock song ‘Romantic Homicide’. Recorded on an iPhone, the track reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart which led to d4vd signing to Darkroom/Interscope before graduating high school.
