Martijn Smits, professionally known as Benedict October, is set to release his new single “Lust for Life” on February 16. The single comes from his upcoming album, And then the ocean. “Lust for Life” is a celebration of life in the most sorrowful and bittersweet way. From grief to heartbreak, “Lust for Life” takes the most soul-shattering experiences and turns them around. In the face of adversity, the song encourages a lifestyle of resilience, optimism, and love. 

With his deep, melancholic voice, Benedict October excels in telling vulnerable and emotional stories in his music. The Dutch singer is very honest and personal with his songwriting. His experiences with grief have made a huge impact on the stories he shares and have allowed listeners to get close to him.

Benedict October invites listeners to follow him as he navigates his grief in his upcoming album. And then the ocean will comprise of 11 songs that will showcase the artist’s personal experiences with grief and how he has overcome it. The album will be accompanied by a short film which follows an individual in search of a long-lost love.
