Announcing their first tour in 10 years, The Veronicas released their new single ‘Detox’ from their new upcoming album ‘Gothic Summer’ released in March 2024. Detox is a blend of Pop-Rock and Skate Punk. This single is a descriptive take on the chaos of toxic relationships and keeping your head above water. In October, The Veronicas came back with their awaited release ‘Perfect’, which gave their listeners a glimpse into their new album ‘Gothic Summer’. This set their fans in a frenzy, reminding their listeners how the girls served as a stepping stone for the pop-rock artists dominating today’s music world.
They created the music video ‘Detox’ with an Australian Pro BMX rider, Director Pat Freyne. In the music video, there are references to director Quentin Tarantino’s greatest dance scenes with wide shots and extreme close-ups as well as improvised dance scenes to show the physical and emotional moments throughout the video. There is also a mix of 60s choreography infused with high energy to capture the fighting off emotional volatility of the song.
The Veronicas come from Australia, but they are heavily impacted around the globe. Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, who are twin sisters, had moved to Los Angeles when they were just teenagers and signed a record deal with Seymour Stein to Warner Bros/Sire Records. From there, they released their first album ‘The Secret Life Of’ which made three top ten singles. Their second album, ‘Hook Me Up’, sent the girls climbing into the USA market with a billboard top twenty hit with their iconic song ‘Untouched’. In 2015, Jessica and Lisa surprised their fans by releasing a piano ballad version of ‘You Ruin Me’, a change from their normal pop/rock roots, putting them in the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame. With many awards in their possession, from MTV Australia, MTV Europe, Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, ARIA, APRA, TMF, and Los Premios MTV, The Veronicas don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon!
