Throughout AleXa’s entire career, she has always been pushing to stand out in the K-Pop scene. From her debut to her latest EP, Girls Gone Vogue, she has always captured a unique and raw sound. “Joy of Missing Out” is no different. From the guitar intro to the head-banging chorus, AleXa has truly understood the assignment of standing out.
AleXa has made it a point to create explosive waves wherever she lands. She has won Soompi’s “Rising Legends” and NBC’s American Song Contest with her talent and hypnotic sound. She debuted as a soloist in October of 2019 with “Bomb,” showing the world that she is a force to be reckoned with. Her releases in her career have this dystopian and rugged tone, but also epic at the same time. “Revolution” is the perfect embodiment of AleXa’s sound, creating this grungy environment that sparked a rebellious spirit in every listener.
“Joy Of Missing Out” is no different. But instead of inspiring rebellion, AleXa inspires the angst of an introvert. AleXa says of the song “I, myself, am an extrovert, but I’m the only one in my friend group. This song goes out to all those who’d rather party by themselves than get lost in the crowd.” The lyrics sum up the tense relationship between an introvert and a crowded event. “Don’t wanna crash a party, I just wanna crash” is one of these lyrics. Another one is, “Why does torture sound more fun?” The song is intimate, tense, and rugged.
Most soloists in the K-Pop industry will stay true to one specific sound, whether that be a pop, sultry, or R&B sound. AleXa has always stayed consistent with her tone, but she has delved into different genres in all of her releases. Not many K-Pop groups or solo artists explore the pop-punk space, and AleXa does not shy away from this challenge. “Joy Of Missing Out” is a part of her full English album coming out soon. Other singles which have already been released include “Distraction,” “I’m Okay,” and “Sick.”
In every aspect of her artistry, AleXa has made an impact on both the international and Korean spaces. Her latest single is no different; she has created a song that reaches audiences of all backgrounds. Do not miss out on history, listen to “Joy Of Missing Out” out now on all streaming platforms.
