The dynamic duo Paradise Vultures is back with their latest single, “Sister Kennedy,” offering listeners a genre-blending odyssey through shame, self-destruction, and self-discovery. This track promises to take you on an emotional rollercoaster, leaving you humming its hauntingly catchy melody long after the first listen.
Paradise Vultures, comprising Tommy Senter (bass/vocals) and Matty Barreca (drums), hails from Los Angeles. Their sound, described as dirty, doomy desert disco, has evolved since Senter’s 2017 EP “Gourmet Carrion.” The current lineup solidified in 2020 when Senter and Barreca bonded over drums and musical influences at a North Hollywood Tiki bar, forming a rhythmic synergy that defines their music. Known for their engaging live shows, Paradise Vultures combines candid humor with infectious melodies and personal lyrics.
“Sister Kennedy” delves into the desperation of addiction and the frustration of combating issues with even bigger ones. Senter explains, “The song was inspired by a time when I felt out of control and considered a lobotomy to silence my mind. The tragic story of Rosemary Kennedy, who was forcibly lobotomized, influenced the song’s title.” The track’s musical and lyrical dynamics capture the highs and lows of addiction, with a carnival funhouse-inspired bridge symbolizing madness.
The single is from their forthcoming debut album, “Born to Lose,” due in late 2024. Written after a personal loss to ALS, the album contrasts grief and life’s joys. Directed by Ed Shiers, the hallucinogenic music video marks their fifth collaboration with the acclaimed director, whose previous work has won multiple awards.
Produced and mixed by Phil English at Eldorado Studios, “Born to Lose” promises emotional depth and musical innovation, with “Sister Kennedy” offering a glimpse into the journey ahead.
This single will take you away like a movie with a beautiful melody, I guarantee it!
