Today marks the highly anticipated release of “The Abysmal EP,” the debut record by the talented Australian singer-songwriter Hannah Bahng. Available now via Bahng Entertainment, this seven-track EP delves deep into the turbulent moods and emotions of its creator, presenting a raw, introspective journey through the lens of a young artist at the cusp of self-discovery.
Hannah Bahng, known for her soul-stirring lyrics and genre-defying music, has emerged as a force in the music industry, melding elements of alternative, R&B, and progressive pop. The project, including the evocative lead single “Abysmal,” showcases her profound ability to blend heartfelt melodies with complex musical arrangements. Hannah’s work on the EP spans from songwriting to overseeing the production of its live strings and piano, all of which were composed, arranged, and scored by her from her bedroom studio in Sydney.
“The Abysmal EP represents many different sides of me, some of which are not always seen in a positive light,” Hannah comments. “It’s akin to ripping out pages from my diary and sharing them with the world. Each song is a piece of me, revealing the depth of my feelings and experiences.”
The EP’s standout tracks include “POMEGRANATE,” inspired by the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone, and “Vertigo,” a song born from a single sitting at the piano, reflecting Hannah’s coming-of-age anxieties. The project culminates with “perfect blues,” a track that has already resonated strongly with her fans, amassing millions of streams.
Accompanying the release of “The Abysmal EP” is a music video for “Abysmal,” directed and co-produced by Hannah herself. The video features her performing ballet, a passion revisited from her childhood, highlighting her multidimensional talents as both a musician and a performer.
