On Sunday night, Baltimore, MD, witnessed a wicked performance by the Satanic Doo-Wop band Twin Temple, as part of their “God is Dead” tour, featuring the opening act Vowws. The Los Angeles-based band, formed by Alexandra and Zachary James in 2016, set the stage with their classic blend of ‘50s and ‘60s rock ‘n’ roll and Satanism.
Twin Temple’s tour kicked off in San Diego, CA, where a Christian church protested outside the venue wearing shirts that read “GOD IS NOT DEAD,” much to the amusement of Alexandra and Zachary James describing the incident, stating, “which really tickled our funny bone.”
Known for their high-energy performances, we asked Twin Temple how this tour is different from others in the past. “This is hopefully our most evil tour yet. It’s always a pleasure seeing your nightmares come to life before your eyes. You can expect lots of rhinestones, the color pink, big hair, horniness, some good ol’ rock and roll and maybe a sacrifice or two…”
The night in Baltimore lived up to expectations, with the audience adorned in 50s and 60s style outfits, dancing to the band’s infectious tunes. The band explained to us, “The live shows are always a joyous and magickal experience, we live to pleasure ourselves and in turn give pleasure to all who attend a ritual. To be honest as far as “reactions” to our music we just follow our own path. That is the whole point of Twin Temple for us. We don’t listen to what people say about us; if we did we’d be in a church somewhere right now repenting.”
When we asked what has been their best fan encounter, Twin Temple shared that they love offering Satanic Baptisms at each show for the most devout; its a very special communion. Describing the experience as unique and transformative for the band. Both members of the rock ‘n’ roll duo are practicing witches, incorporating rituals into their tour preparations. They explained that while there are many rituals, “orgies are the most fun.” Reflecting on past tours, Twin Temple mentioned all shows are weird and all are their favorites.
Having shared the stage with bands like Ghost, Behemoth, and The Bridge City Sinners, Twin Temple has their sights set on future collaborations. When asked about potential collaborators, they mentioned The Ronettes. The band took some time to answer some fan questions. When asked if the band had to stop playing music, what would they want to do instead, they stated they would be grave diggers. Despite their penchant for the macabre, when Twin Temple has time to explore they explained they loved seeing the grand bone church of Kutna Hora, but any ossuary is very cheerful for them. They also mentioned that the best venue they’ve performed in was the O2 Arena in London.
In conclusion, Twin Temple has solidified their presence in the rock ‘n’ roll realm. They undoubtedly deliver a performance not to be missed. Check out the remainder of their tour for a wickedly good time.
