On the evening of March 1, 2024, Dexter and The Moonrocks made their much-anticipated first time debut in Colorado Springs, CO, treating a sold-out venue to an unforgettable performance. Before the headliners took the stage, the crowd was warmed up by the energetic sound of the opening act, Mitchell Ferguson, who got everyone fired up with their fan favorites and lively jam sessions.
As the atmosphere busted with excitement, fans from hippies to cowboys eagerly awaited for Dexter and The Moonrocks. And when they finally appeared, they did not disappoint. With a combination of booze, smokes, and chants the band launched into an electrifying setlist, which included brand-new unreleased original songs alongside beloved classics like ‘Sectional/couch,’ ‘Autopilot,’ ‘Devil Like Me,’ ‘Space Invader,’ ‘Birds and the Bees,’ and their latest hit single, ‘She Likes Girls.’
But it wasn’t just about the music; Dexter and The Moonrocks made sure to involve the audience in the experience. True to tradition, they shared Cheez-its with the crowd, with a playful reminder of “One Cheez-it per person! Don’t be greedy!”
From Abilene, Texas, Dexter and The Moonrocks have carved out a spot for themselves in the music world with their unique blend of southern alternative and alternative rock, which they affectionately refer to as “Western Space Grunge.” Drawing inspiration from the likes of Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, and Whiskey Myers, the band delivers a sound that’s both introspective and infectious.
By the end of the night, Dexter and The Moonrocks had left an indelible mark on Colorado Springs, solidifying their reputation as a band on the rise in the alternative music scene. With their performance and genre-defying sound, they proved once again why they’re a force to be reckoned with in the world of music.
